Unworn Diamond Valued At £40-£50k

A never-worn diamond ring has been valued at between £40,000 and £50,000 by jewellery specialist Bonham's.

The ring, which was kept in a safe for more than 15 years, emerged during the company's Jewellery in June campaign, which encouraged people to value their items.

Its anonymous owner inherited the ring from an employee of the jewellery quarter located in Hockley, just outside Birmingham.

The piece is to be auctioned on September 25th in London, although it has not been confirmed whether it is a gold diamond ring, a platinum diamond ring or an alternative design.

Tarn Harrison, Bonhams' jewellery specialist in the midlands, commented: "We're delighted that we've started this campaign by finding a really outstanding diamond and so pleased that it is a piece with local origins."

Jeweller Van Cleef & Arpels recently launched a new collection called French Kiss, which is aimed at brides and includes heart shape diamond rings.
