Pear Shape Diamond Ring For Lau

Actors Carina Lau and Tony Leung Chiu Wai married on July 21st in a gem-studded ceremony, it has emerged.

The performers, who starred together in films such as Flowers of Shanghai, reportedly spent millions on the ceremony, which took place at the Uma Paro resort in Bhutan, according to the Straits Times.

Lau's wedding band was a pear shape diamond ring, reportedly an allusion to a big diamond that appears in Leung's film Lust, Caution, which was directed by Ang Lee.

Director Wong Kar Wai, who worked with the pair on films such as 2046 and Ashes of Time, spoke at the wedding, according to Sing Tao Daily.

He said: "These few days, I've been staying upstairs from the couple and two days ago, I saw Carina wearing socks, wearing a hat, waking up early in the morning to go trekking in the mountains with Tony."

Kar Wai's other films included Chungking Express, which was released in 1994 and stars Leung, as well as Faye Wong and Valerie Chow.
