Diamond Inscription Service Launched

Diamond inscription service launched

A company in Dubai has launched a new diamond inscription service which could both personalise and protect the valuable stones.

International Diamond Laboratories (IDL) can now take a customer's stone and use a laser to add either a message or its diamond certificate number, reports AME Info.

The company's chief executive officer Peter Meeus explained that adding a personalised greeting to a diamond ring bought for Valentine's Day or a religious festival was a growing trend.

However, as it is possible to make the marks so fine they can only be seen with the aid of a special viewer, the process can also be a useful security measure.

"The laser inscription is a guarantee that your diamond is not replaced with another and is the same as the one described on the certificate you obtained," added Mr Meeus.

IDL's services cannot hope to personalise a stone to quite the same extent as the widow of Flight Lieutenant Allan Squires has managed to do.

Adele Squires has had the ashes of her late husband, who died while on active duty in Afghanistan, made into a synthetic quarter-carat yellow diamond as a keepsake, reports the Press and Journal.
