DeGeneres Gives Marquis Cut Diamond Ring To De Rossi

Ellen DeGeneres, the US talk show host, has presented her fiancee Portia de Rossi with a marquise cut diamond ring.

The couple has set a date for their wedding, which was announced after a ban on same sex nuptials was lifted by the California supreme court.

At the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, Arrested Development star de Rossi showed off the marquise cut diamond ring.

DeGeneres won the Emmy for outstanding talk-show host this year for the fourth consecutive time.

The comedian, famous for the 1990s sitcom Ellen and for roles in films such as Finding Nemo, said that she hoped people will eventually view the ban on gay marriage in a similar light to segregation and the prevention of women's right to vote.

"Planning a wedding is very stressful," she added.

"It is crazy. My gardener is now invited."

As well as playing Lindsay Bluth Funke in Arrested Development, de Rossi has starred in a number of films and TV shows, including Ally McBeal.
