The V&A is inviting jewellery aficionados to design their own gold diamond rings and other items.
As its newly reopened jewellery gallery introduces visitors to thousands of items from the decorative arts museum's collection, fans of all things shiny are also asked to design their own gold diamond rings and other hand adornments, the Economist notes.
In a development to be completed before the end of the year, the museum is to launch a web-based catalogue showing all 3,500 pieces in its newly reopened jewellery gallery.
"The idea is that visitors can design their own rings - choosing stones and setting and emailing the result home or to whomever needs a hint," the article explains.
A £7 million donation from William and Judith Bollinger enabled the museum to finance the restoration, commissioning London architect Eva Jiricna to redesign the display space.
Visitors to the V&A's website can also view 3D fashion from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
