Nepalese gold jewellery remains an important part of the country's culture, a new report observes.
According to the Rising Nepal, a wander around the nation's shops and markets reveals a variety of necklaces, rings, earrings and other gold ornaments.
The publication observes that the precious metal is an ideal setting for a semi-precious stone, perhaps through a gold diamond ring.
"Jewellery and gems are indeed one of Nepal's highly appealing take-homable art forms. They will last a lifetime, in beauty and value, and make much loved gifts," the publication observes.
Originally brought to Nepal from Tibet, gold is now supplied to the country through various markets in Asia.
Usually between 22 and 24 carats, travellers are reportedly often impressed at the variety of jewellery worn by residents of Nepal.
A landlocked nation, the Himalaya mountain range traverses the country's territory, with Mount Everest also situated within the boundaries of Nepal.
