A woman from Devon wanted a gold diamond ring to remind her of her deceased cat, Sooty.
So 45-year-old Sue Rogers decided to have a black diamond ring created using the black feline's ashes, reports the Telegraph.
The gold diamond ring was made through the extraction of two grams of carbon from 100 grams of Sooty's remains.
Next, the carbon was placed in a diamond press, exposed to a 3,000 degrees Celsius temperature and subjected to a pressure of one million pounds for 14 days.
The resulting gem was transformed from clear to black by being placed under electrons for 24 hours.
Now, Ms Rogers can wear her gold diamond ring at all times to remember Sooty every day.
"They use ashes, but not all of them, so it is still possible to scatter some ashes in the traditional way as well," she told the news provider.
According to research from American Express, the average worker spends 12 minutes a day looking after their pets.
