British jewellery designer Fameo has launched a new range of bespoke jewellery featuring Mueda aquamarine gemstones from Mozambique.
Describing the colour of the rare stones as akin to tropical lagoons, Fameo hopes the line will prove popular with those looking for the most unique jewellery items.
Each piece in the collection, which will be offered exclusively through Fameo's online store, is made from 18 karat white gold.
As well as emerald cut Mueda aquamarines they will also feature marquise cut diamonds to bring, according to Fameo, a "touch of class and a sense of true luxury".
Louise Davies, managing director of Fameo, said the jewellery designer will be launching more lines featuring coloured gemstones this year to meet growing demand for high end fine jewellery in the UK.
And it seems this demand is not restricted to Britain as a 101.27 carat diamond, set in a tiara, has been sold at auction in Hong Kong for £3 million, the BBC reports.
