Jewellery Demand 'could Rise With Wedding Season'

Demand for designer jewellery could rise as the Asian wedding season commences, a new report notes.

Sales of bespoke pieces such as gold rings and other accessories could experience a boom when the five-week period begins next month, observes the Mail on Sunday.

Asian brides adorn themselves with gold jewellery on their special day, as well as receiving the precious metal as part of their dowry.

Some 7,000 families visited independent west London jeweller Ram Parkash Sunderdass & Sons last year to purchase jewellery for wedding festivities, its manager told the publication.

Rishi Babber said that the store was eagerly awaiting the sales spike likely to come with this year's wedding season.

Meanwhile, analysts reportedly expect demand for gold to continue rising.

In related news, the Akshaya Tritiya - an Indian festival which associates the purchase of gold with wealth and prosperity - is set to fall on May 7th, a new Reuters report has pointed out.
