Jewellery shoppers are increasingly looking for items tailored especially to their tastes, a new report notes.
According to Business Standard, people are growing more willing to spend money on items that signify their unique, individual style, reports MSN.
Diamond rings, necklaces and earrings are among the pieces that shoppers in India - who have long had an appetite for lavish jewellery - are looking for, the publication observes.
Crucial to the business of bespoke jewellery is said to be the relationship between consumer and designer.
Trust is more essential here than in the standard commerce agreement, the report maintains.
Designer Mira Jain told the news provider that achieving an exclusive look is important if designer jewellery is to attract high-end shoppers.
"My jewellery can be worn round the year. At the end of the day, it's the design that matters," the expert commented.
Her remarks followed the release of research by CreditExpert, which suggested that a fifth of British residents would presume that somebody wearing expensive jewellery was wealthy.
