From black-and-white diamond combinations to snake designs to turquoise, there seemed to be no parameters for the jewelry-wearing starlets who made the red-carpet rounds at the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

The SAG Awards, which took place Saturday, and were broadcast live from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center, were the second key award event of the season, following fast on the heels of the Golden Globe awards. In both cases, jewelry designers and stylists took full advantage of the moment to put jewelry on the red carpet.

Kate Hudson was one of the night's biggest style standouts in a white Emilio Pucci gown that plunged low in the back to reveal a long diamond sautoir necklace, just one piece in what was reportedly $1.75 million worth of Cartier diamond jewelry she donned for the bash. The Nine star also wore Cartier Paris' vintage briolette and baguette diamond drop earrings, plus a 15.65-carat emerald cut diamond ring and a diamond cocktail ring set in white gold.

Also making several appearances were snake-motif jewels. Sheri Shepherd wore a 'Diamond Magic Snake' bracelet and 'Diamond and Black Diamond Magic Snake Ring' by Staurino as well as a 'Diamond Cluster' ring by Favero, while Carey Mulligan took the serpentine style into vintage territory, donning Fred Leighton's 19th century 'Diamond Snake Earrings. '

A significant number of actresses also went for colored stones, most notably Tina Fey, who won a SAG award for her role in 30 Rock. Fey helped debut Neil Lane's new 'Renaissance Collection,' choosing to set off a vivid purple satin Ferragamo sheath with a statement-making pair of earrings that mixed moonstone, brown diamonds, yellow diamonds and colorless diamonds, all set in handmade platinum. She also wore three stacked diamond and platinum line bracelets from Neil Lane.
