Diamond event set to begin

Published : 01/05/09 A major diamond industry meeting is set to get underway over the weekend. The World Jewellery Confederation's (CIBJO's) 2009 congress kicks off on Sunday (May 3rd) in Turkey, lovers of items such as gold diamond rings and diamond stud earrings may be interested to learn. A host of high profile guests and industry members are in line to attend the event's opening, including Turkish prime minister Recap Tayyip Erdogan. Dr Gaetano Cavalieri, president of the CIBJO, commented that it is a "great honour" that the prime minister will be in attendance. He added that this shows the value that the Turkish government puts on the jewellery industry and trade and also the importance of the sector to world leaders. In related news, the JCK Las Vegas Jewellery Show begins on June 1st. The event includes talks from numerous industry members, including Martin Rapaport, chairman of the Rapaport Group, lovers of platinum diamond rings may be interested to hear.
