Published : 07/04/09 A major jewellery body has recognised the talents of three designers at the BaselWorld 2009 event. The Platinum Guild International chose the exhibition to hold its first annual Basel Platinum Design Awards. With a wealth of items such as platinum diamond rings and diamond bracelets on offer there was plenty of competition for the honours. Italian firm Picchiotti took top prize in the bridal category for its gemstone-encrusted band. A spokesperson for the judging body commented: "A platinum engagement ring is the ultimate symbol of eternal love, uniting two people: pure, rare, and eternal just like the metal itself." Elsewhere, Hans D Krieger was recognised for its men's jewellery, while Kuwayama walked away with the award for the best nature inspired piece. The Baselworld 2009 event concluded on April 2nd, after several days of meetings, exhibitions and seminars involving some of the world's top designers and manufacturers of diamond accessories.
