Published : 24/04/09 A scheme is set to be launched which aims to ensure that consumers are aware of and satisfied with the origins of items such as gold diamond rings, it has been revealed. Dr Francios Loriot, chairman of the World Jewellery Confederation Education Foundation's academic board, commented that a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative will be pioneered in the industry. He said that this will be put in place due to the importance of making sure that consumers are happy with the origins of a product, which may include diamond bracelets or diamond necklaces. Dr Loriot added: "The purpose of the training will be to assist every sector of the industry to understand, establish and deliver a clear CSR programme." He went on to say that this scheme will deal with both the ethical and economic advantages of CSR. In other industry news, the World Jewellery Confederation is set to hold its annual congress between May 3rd and 5th in Turkey.
