A woman has won a diamond ring after a competition which involved her digging through soil with a spoon, according to a source.
Brenda Riley claimed the $2,500 (£1,650) jewel-encrusted band as part of a fundraising event put on by United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile, reports the Press Register.
However, after scooping the engagement band it became clear Mrs Riley is no stranger to gold diamond rings and already has a similar, albeit less expensive, item which was given to her by her husband.
The 38-year-old had not told her beau she was going to the charity dig, which involved women paying $20 to have to chance of finding the glamorous accessory.
She told the news provider the new item will take pride of place and act as a 20th anniversary gift between her and her husband.
Around 100 participants took part in the event, with an hour of scrambling around in the dirt before the gemstone band was found.
In other news regarding gold diamond rings as competition prizes, five couples are through to the final stages of a hunt to give away a jewel-encrusted band worth $25,000.
