A major event in the jewellery industry has closed after enjoying higher-than-expected attendance and sales.
The Dubai International Jewellery Week 2008 exhibition ended on Sunday after a 20 per cent growth on last year's show, it may interest gold diamond rings enthusiasts to learn.
Lovers of lavish pieces flocked to the city's International Convention and Exhibition Centre for the five-day showcase.
Trixee Loh, senior vice president of exhibition and events management at the Dubai World Trade Centre, commented: "Despite the challenging economic and retail conditions, sales have been steady throughout the show and visitors have enjoyed the exclusive shopping experience of sourcing from companies around the world."
More than 520 companies within the sector were on show, making this offering the largest Jewellery Week to date.
In other news related to platinum diamond rings, it has been announced the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre will host the 2009 Middle East India Diamond and Jewellery Summit.
