A fashion designer has turned to drastic measures in order to pay off her debts, it has been claimed.
Lisa Aviva, owner of a men's accessories company, decided to sell her engagement band through an online auction website, it may interest owners of gold diamond rings to learn.
Ms Aviva, who has debts of more than $100,000 (£67,000), not only put the once-cherished item up-for-sale, she did so with a starting price of $1.
She commented: "I was originally planning to use the funds from the sale of the ring to launch a plus-size women's collection, but due to the current economic climate, I have had to reevaluate my plans."
The jewel-encrusted almost 5-carat band has since received bids which have pushed its asking price up to £8,000.
