Obama and Biden wear diamond necklaces

Michelle Obama wore a diamond necklace as she welcomed Jill Biden, wife of Barack Obama's recently announced running mate Joe Biden, to the campaign.


According to People magazine, Ms Obama was joined in her choice of jewellery by Ms Biden, who also sported a diamond necklace in public, in the shape of a lucky horseshoe.


Ms Obama called Ms Biden to express her support and call for any ideas as the Democrats' race gets into full swing.


"I just wanted to tell her we're excited and also to say that anything you see that we need to be doing or should be doing, speak up – don't hesitate, because we want to get this right," Ms Obama told the publication.


The Guardian has reported that Joe Biden - who was born in Pennsylvania in 1942 - has never lived in Washington, riding the train 125 miles every day from his home in Delaware.
