Brilliant cut diamond ring 'to be auctioned with Elton's brooch'
28th Aug 2008
An auction in September is set to see a brilliant cut diamond ring go under the hammer, as well as a diamond brooch owned by singer Elton John.
Bonham's is holding the sale, which takes place on September 25th and offers the chance to bid on the brooch, made in 1935 and designed in the shape of the letter J.
Featuring brilliant cut and baguette cut diamonds, the brooch is also adorned with five oval cut sapphires, reports DNA.
Meanwhile, the brilliant cut diamond ring weighs 4.57 carats and has been kept in a safe for more than 15 years.
"With the current economic uncertainty and the world gold price at a record high, many investors are turning away from stocks and shares to more tangible commodities such as high quality jewellery," Jean Ghika, Bonhams' UK director of jewellery, told the publication.
Elton John's albums include Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Reg Strikes Back and Made in England.
