Stars exchange promise rings

A diamond promise ring was recently presented to singer Katy Perry by her boyfriend, Gym Class Heroes singer Travis McCoy.


The Warped band's frontman told 411 Mania that he set up a romantic scene with flowers in order to present his partner with the ring, which she wears on her left finger.


McCoy added that he has a matching promise ring, noting that when he purchased the piece of jewellery he specified wanting "the big one".


Promise rings - which are available in a variety of styles, including gold diamond rings and asscher cut diamond rings - often represent a committed relationship that falls short of marriage.


The terms of the promise can vary, with some indicating a couple's intention to marry some day and others symbolising a promise to be faithful.


Ashley Tisdale, High School Musical star, was recently spotted in Hawaii wearing a promise ring given to her by Jared Murillo.
