A new guide to grading diamonds has been released by the International Diamond Council (IDC), it has been revealed.
In news that may be of interest to people shopping for a diamond pendant or a diamond necklace, the new regulations provide updated nomenclature for polished diamonds, reports Diamond Intelligence Briefs.
The new rules were discussed and agreed at a recent meeting of IDC members in Antwerp and are available for download on the organisation's website.
Stephane Fischler, chairman of the IDC, said that the rules are a work in progress and likely to develop further as the diamond industry advances and develops new ways to consolidate consumer trust.
"I believe the IDC's role, as a vehicle of WFDB and IDMA, will only grow as the industry needs to offer consumers the best and widest possible range of quality assurances of the diamonds it sells to the public," he added.
