Diamonds and cake for Girls Aloud singer

A pear shape diamond ring was not quite luxurious enough for Ashley Cole - for his wife's birthday he presented her with a diamond-studded cake.


Girls Aloud's Cheryl Cole received a uniquely glamorous cake from her footballer husband, shaped like a handbag and shoes and decorated with edible diamonds worth a collective £5,200, reports the Daily Star.


"Cheryl couldn't believe it when she saw the cake - it was absolutely beautiful. She was thrilled that Ashley was making such an effort for her birthday," a source told My Park Magazine.


The diamond-encrusted delicacy was given to Cole - who recently became a judge on ITV1's The X-Factor - at Wing's restaurant in Manchester.
