A diamond pendant was the most valuable item brought to a recent Antiques Roadshow appraisal fair, it has been reported.
The event in Chatanooga, Tennessee, saw the diamond pendant declared worth $250,000 (£125,500).
Judy Matthews, publicist for the roadshow, told the Chatanoogan that the item was originally purchased in the late 1800s as a present from husband to wife, having been valued at $10,000 in 1988.
"Either that appraisal was extremely low or diamonds have greatly appreciated over the past 20 years," Ms Matthews reportedly said, laughing.
The diamond necklace incorporates Edwardian pearls and a two-carat diamond pendant and five-carat rose-cut gem, both of which are surrounding by a circle of smaller diamonds.
In related news, a diamond pendant owned by rapper Lil Jon had made a Guinness World Record for its size - six inches wide, one inch thick and 7.5 inches tall, Diamond Intelligence Briefs revealed last week.
