Crist pops the question with blue sapphire and diamond ring

An oval cut diamond ring could be the ideal engagement gift, bringing a touch of glamour to a symbol of everlasting love.
This tradition may have inspired Charlie Crist, governor of Florida and potential running-mate to John McCain, when he proposed to his partner recently.
Mr Crist got down on one knee - despite having recently had knee surgery - and offered a blue sapphire and diamond ring to Carol Rome, described by the Telegraph as a New York socialite.
"It was very romantic. God bless her, she said yes," the politician reportedly said.
The proposal took place on July 4th on the balcony of Mr Crist's condominium in St Petersburg, where the governor purchased the diamond ring.
If Ms Rome decides to add an individual touch to the ring, she may wish to take advantage of a new trend reported on by the Nest last week.
Women are reportedly upgrading the oval cut diamond rings given to them by their fiances to signify enduring love, or perhaps divergent tastes.
