Tennis player Maria Sharapova could be wowing the crowds with more than her sporting prowess during Wimbledon 2008.
The sportswoman was set to wear a pair of Tiffany diamond drop earrings worth £2,500 for this year's tournament.
The Russian star's clothing sponsor, Nike, is behind a whole new look for Sharapova, inspired by "London's rich history in tailoring".
She was to enter her opening-round match with Stephanie Foretz wearing a two-piece, tuxedo-style warm-up suit, playing the match in a pair of shorts and a tuxedo bib front.
"I'm changing it up this year," she said. "I'm going with the traditional shorts, believe it or not."
Sharapova explained that she had never before worn shorts at Wimbledon, but was shifting towards "menswear".
Diamonds may be a theme at Wimbledon this year. Serena Williams paired a 10-carat diamond bracelet, a diamond necklace and matching earrings with her Matthew Williamson dress at a recent pre-tournament party, the Press Association reported.
