Fashion-forward consumers may wish to communicate their stylistic clout to others with a marquise cut diamond ring, a new report suggests.
According to Napsi, while round diamonds are the most conventionally popular shape for an engagement ring, more unusual pieces such as marquise cut diamond rings are growing in popularity.
"These fancy-shaped sparklers say the person is fashion-forward with distinctive style," observes the news provider.
Other alternative styles include pear shaped diamond rings and cushion shaped diamond rings, the article notes.
Famous fans of unconventional engagement ring alternatives are said to include Eva Longoria Parker, Katherine Heigl, Ellen Pompeo and Victoria Beckham.
Meanwhile, accent stones are described as another way that a gold diamond ring could be brightened up.
Such stones are reportedly "attainable", but also make a "big impact".
Carla Bruni recently appeared in publication Le Point wearing a diamond necklace, the Globe and Mail recently reported.
