A solitaire diamond ring was auctioned at an Angus auction house this weekend.
The gold diamond ring was sold for £5,600 at Taylors Auction Rooms in Montrose where it was reported that jewellery was a popular choice for buyers, according to the Press and Journal.
Diamonds were selling well at the auction with a brooch selling for a £3,200.
Clocks were also in high demand with a number of them going for high price, including a barograph made by Negretti and Zambra, which sold for £2,000.
However, the clocks could not compete with the prices fetched by the diamonds and other jewellery at the auction, despite fetching between £1000 and £2,000 for the higher end items.
Recently the largest diamond in Asia was sold for almost £3.15 million. The stone, which was also the largest to be put up for sale in nearly 20 years, is 101 carats and was cut from a larger 460 carat stone.
