Gold diamond rings and other jewellery items are retaining their popularity with consumers, an executive with the iconic company has said.
The Manhattan branches of the brand are enjoying particular success at the moment, Frederic de Frederic de Narp, president and chief executive officer of Cartier North America, told Reuters recently.
Among the most popular collections are Love, which features 18-carat gold diamond rings and other pieces, as well as the Trinity range, he said.
In tough times, people turn to the stability and endurance of jewellery for reassurance, Mr de Narp suggested.
Foreigners in Manhattan are among those splurging on items at the Cartier store, the executive revealed.
Meanwhile, the lasting presence of occasions such as weddings means that bridal jewellery sales are also strong.
Mr de Narp told Reuters: "People will never stop celebrating special occasions and milestones in their life like marriages, birthdays, anniversaries."
Headquartered in Paris, Cartier is named after the family which founded the company.
