Pear shape diamond rings 'slim the fingers'

Shoppers looking for a piece of jewellery to flatter the hand have been advised to consider a pear shape diamond ring.


According to the Times of India, such items can have a slimming effect on fingers due to its rounded end and single point.


"The pear-shaped diamond has the qualities of both oval and marquise diamonds. This exquisite shape looks like a glistening teardrop," notes the publication.


Other flattering shapes for a diamond ring were said to include the princess cut, characterised by pointed corners and a traditional square/rectangular structure.


But fashionistas looking to draw attention to the diamond rather than themselves may wish to consider an emerald cut diamond ring, which the newspaper states highlight the gemstone's clarity.


Ugly Betty star America Ferrara was recently spotted by the Daily Mail sporting a diamond ring, which the newspaper speculated could signify the actress's engagement to partner Ryan Piers Williams.
