With their origins in the tribal regions of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Orissa, anklets can be teamed with trousers or skirts and worn to work or to the beach, the publication notes.


A bespoke anklet can provide a personal touch, with consumers able to choose the metal and gemstones that best suit their sense of style.


Silver is reportedly popular as it can be teamed with most outfits and colourings, while gold is said to remain a perennial favourite among women.


Meanwhile, those looking for a more glamorous statement can choose heavy and ornate ankle bracelets, popular with a "loyal customer base".


Lama Al Saheb, public relations manager of the World Gold Council, recently noted that ankle bracelets are increasingly popular in simple styles.
