Engaged Johansson sparkles with designer jewellery

Scarlett Johansson is engaged to partner Ryan Reynolds - and has a diamond ring to prove it.


The Lost In Translation star turned up at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala in New York with a beautiful example of bespoke jewellery - a diamond solitaire, worn on her left hand.


Having dated Johansson for the past year, Reynolds - who is also in the acting business - is now set to become her husband.


A spokesperson for Johansson reported that the couple was "thrilled" and were yet to set a date for the nuptials.


First coming to the world's attention in comic book adaptation Ghost World, Johansson's forthcoming roles include parts in the films He's Just Not That Into You and Mary, Queen of Scots.


She has also just completed an album consisting mostly of Tom Waits covers, entitled Anywhere I Lay My Head.


It was described by influential online US music magazine Pitchfork as "album of the year, baby".
