Mariah's diamonds spark wedding whispers

Pop diva Mariah Carey has been spotted in a diamond ring at a New York film festival - enough to set off a flurry of speculation that she is engaged to her partner Nick Cannon.


Carey turned up at the Tribeca film festival sporting the designer jewellery, while her affectionate behaviour with Cannon persuaded some sources to put two and two together and come up with an engagement.


"The couple were together holding hands at an after party for the film and Mariah wasn't shy about the huge diamond ring on her ring finger," observed MTV.


According to reports, Carey has been dating actor and rapper Cannon since they met while filming her latest music video.


Star of MTV's Wild 'N Out and The Nick Cannon Show, Mariah's rumoured fiance has also appeared in Men In Black II and 50 Cent's video Disco Inferno.


Meanwhile, Carey's latest album, E=MC², has been released this month in the UK.
